Kunar Journalists Reject Pakistan’s Allegations

Journalists in Kunar province have rejected and strongly condemned the remarks made by Pakistan’s Minister of Information, Attaullah Taral, who claimed that Kunar-based journalists are funded by India and are spreading propaganda against Pakistan.
In this regard, the journalists held a meeting and described the minister’s statements as baseless and irresponsible. They also condemned the recent attacks carried out by Pakistan’s military regime, which resulted in a number of civilian casualties, including both deaths and injuries.
The journalists emphasized that they carry out their professional duties in accordance with the principles of journalism and will never alter their stance under the influence of false accusations. They added that they will continue to serve their people and country by providing truthful and impartial reporting.
They also called on security institutions to pay serious attention to ensuring their safety. Furthermore, they urged the Ministry of Information and Culture to officially reject and condemn the Pakistani minister’s claims.
During the meeting, Abdul Qadoos Shams, the provincial representative of the Afghan Journalists and Media Support Organization (AJMSO), described the remarks as regrettable and firmly rejected them. He stressed the importance of media, stating that free media is a fundamental requirement for societal progress.
A number of cultural figures in Kunar also expressed their support for the journalists, noting that the dissemination of truth often leads to false allegations, but such pressures only strengthen journalists’ resolve.
It is worth noting that in recent days, Pakistan’s military has carried out missile attacks on various areas of Kunar province, including Sayyid Jamaluddin Afghan University. According to reports, 97 people were injured and 8 civilians were killed in these attacks.
