Joint Meeting Held in Laghman Between Media Officials, Government Spokespersons and UNAMA Representatives

A joint meeting was held in Mehtarlam, the capital of Laghman Province, with the participation of the Director of Information and Culture, the Director of Technical and Vocational Education, representatives of UNAMA’s eastern regional office, officials from several government departments, media officials from Laghman, representatives of media support organizations, and spokespersons from various institutions.
At the beginning of the meeting, Joyce, a representative of UNAMA’s Political Affairs Section, spoke about the organization’s activities. She expressed her appreciation for the joint meeting and welcomed the favorable conditions established in Laghman for media activities and access to information.
She emphasized that cooperation with media outlets and journalists should continue on a sustained basis and assured participants that UNAMA would continue its support and cooperation in this regard.
During the meeting, Mufti Zabihullah Haqqani, Director of Technical and Vocational Education, and Mufti Shabir Ahmad Osmani, Deputy Head of the Department for the Promotion of Virtue, delivered remarks in turn. They stated that media outlets in Laghman Province were operating more effectively than ever before.
They also spoke in detail about the role, mission and responsibilities of the media, urging journalists to develop and broadcast useful programs and content to raise public awareness, promote constructive thinking, and contribute to the intellectual development of society.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion among participants, during which questions, views and recommendations were shared and subsequently discussed by the relevant officials.
