Joint Meeting Held Between Government and Media Representatives in Laghman
A joint meeting between government and media representatives was held in Laghman province, bringing together representatives of various media outlets, the provincial representative of the Afghan Journalists and Media Support Organization (AJMSO), spokespersons of several government institutions, and provincial representatives of media organizations and institutions.
During the meeting, Atiqullah Quraishi, AJMSO’s provincial representative, and representatives of various media outlets spoke about their media activities and shared the challenges and concerns facing media organizations, with a focus on finding practical solutions to these issues.
Media representatives said that all active radio stations in Laghman are facing difficulties in settling their tax obligations and completing their tax clearance with the provincial Revenue Department. They called on the leadership of the Department of Information and Culture to work toward finding a solution to these challenges.
Mawlawi Abdul Noor Rasouli, Director of Information and Culture in Laghman, expressed his appreciation for the work of local media outlets.
He emphasized that the media play an important role in shaping public awareness and perceptions, and encouraged media outlets to continue producing and broadcasting educational, informative, comprehensive, and impactful programs for the public.
Regarding the tax-related challenges faced by media outlets, Rasouli said that the issue would be raised with officials of the provincial Revenue Department in order to find an appropriate solution.
The leadership of the Department of Information and Culture also reaffirmed its continued cooperation and support for journalists and media outlets in the province.
