Visit to Local Media Outlets in Balkh Province

Sibghatullah Turan, the provincial representative of the Afghan Journalists and Media Support Organization (AJMSO) in Balkh, visited a number of local Media outlets in the province.

The visits were conducted to strengthen coordination between AJMSO and local media, learn more about the challenges affecting media activities, and encourage and support media staff in Balkh.

Media representatives said that delays in accessing information in some cases, the lack of support programs for media outlets, and declining financial support for local media—particularly radio stations— are among the major challenges facing the media sector in Balkh.

The AJMSO provincial representative in Balkh said that the organization is working to identify practical solutions to the economic challenges faced by media outlets, strengthen the professional capacities of journalists, and communicate the concerns and challenges of local media to relevant government authorities.
