Introduction of AJMSO Provincial Representative in Balkh

The provincial representative of the Afghan Journalists and Media Support Organization (AJMSO) in Balkh province was officially introduced and commenced work during a meeting attended by local authorities, journalists, and media representatives.
The event was held on Saturday, 26th of April, in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, where Sibhgatullah Turan was introduced as the provincial representative of the organization.
During the program, Mohammadullah Zarar, Head of the Information and Culture Department of Balkh, emphasized the importance of joint cooperation to strengthen media and promote accurate and transparent information dissemination. He stated that the Department would fully cooperate with the AJMSO provincial representative in Balkh. He described the role of media-supporting organizations as vital and effective in addressing journalists’ challenges, providing professional guidance, and fostering coordination between governmental and non-governmental institutions.
Meanwhile, Sibhgatullah Turan, the AJMSO provincial representative in Balkh, identified support for freedom of expression and backing journalists and media outlets as key objectives of the organization. Highlighting the essential role of media in enhancing transparency and accountability, he added that creating a safe working environment for journalists, protecting their rights, improving the quality of information dissemination, strengthening professional journalism, and providing training and capacity-building programs are urgent needs of the journalism community. He affirmed that AJMSO is committed to making every possible effort in this regard.
At the end of the meeting, journalists and representatives of visual, audio, and print media in Balkh called for regular meetings and training programs to effectively identify and address the major challenges facing journalists and media outlets.
