Journalists’ Challenges and Demands in Laghman Shared with the Provincial Governor’s Office

Atiqullah Quraishi, Provincial Representative of the Afghan Journalists and Media Support Organization (AJMSO) in Laghman, met with Abdulmalik Niazi, Spokesperson of the Laghman Province Governor, to discuss the challenges, concerns, and needs of journalists and media outlets in the province.
During the meeting, the AJMSO provincial representative highlighted several key issues, including easier access to information, the economic challenges facing journalists and media organizations, greater attention to journalists’ safety and security, as well as a number of other requests and recommendations.
He emphasized that the media plays a vital role in promoting social development, raising public awareness, and strengthening the relationship between the people and the government. Therefore, he noted, it is essential to give serious attention to the challenges faced by journalists and media organizations and to provide the necessary support, facilities, and professional opportunities to enable them to carry out their work effectively.
Abdulmalik Niazi, Spokesperson for the Laghman Provincial Governor, stated that the provincial administration highly values the role of the media and remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at addressing journalists’ concerns.
He further noted that the provincial administration has consistently cooperated with journalists by ensuring timely access to information. According to him, this cooperation will continue in the future, with even stronger coordination to facilitate media access to official information.
Mr. Niazi also stated that the provincial leadership would discuss the economic difficulties and financial challenges facing media outlets and would make every effort, within the available resources, to provide the necessary support and cooperation to journalists and media organizations.
It is worth noting that the Afghan Journalists and Media Support Organization (AJMSO) works across Afghanistan to protect the rights of journalists and media organizations, address their challenges, and contribute to strengthening the country’s media environment.
